Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Stoke, you must be at least 21 years old, although this may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance, along with a security deposit, is usually payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where appropriate. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns could result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Policy
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless further insurance is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure that the vehicle is used within its intended capacity and adheres to specified geographic limits.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Stoke Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, that may arise from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
